Iran film 'Cold Breath' to vie for Golden Dagger

'Cold Breath' is to go on screen at the 10th Muscat Int'l Film Festival in Oman.

Iranian feature 'Cold Breath' has been set to go on screen at the 10th edition of the Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF) in Oman.

Directed by Abbas Raziji, the movie is to vie for the Golden Dagger at the main competition section of the Muscat event.

The flick depicts a young woman whose daughter gives in to cancer, and she has got to settle the pertinent costs.

It stars Bita Baderan, Majid Mozaffari, Parichehr Riali, Hamideh Barati and Ezzatollah Ramezanifar.

The film is also set to be screened at the first Newcastle International Film Festival, scheduled to be launched in late April.

Held every two years, the festival has seen the participation of some of the big names from around the world including actors Forest Whitaker, Susan Sarandon and Amitabh Bachchan.

Iranian filmmaker Ida Panahandeh's 'Nahid' won the Golden Dagger of Best Foreign Film in 2016.

The six-day MIFF will also witness special screenings for women and children and will cover issues of the region, both political and social.

The 10th MIFF will take place March 26-31, 2018.
